Rotate PDF

Turn sideways or upside-down pages the right way up, one page at a time or all at once. Rotating only rewrites the page's metadata, so the quality stays exactly as it was. Your file never leaves this device.

How to rotate a PDF

  1. Drop the PDF onto the box above, or press “Choose a PDF file”.
  2. Turn every page at once with “↺ Left”, “↻ Right” or “⤵ 180°”, or turn single pages with the arrows on their previews. The previews turn as you click.
  3. Press “Rotate & download”. The pages are turned, not redrawn, so nothing loses quality.

What Rotate PDF does

Turning pages the right way up. Scanners and phone cameras routinely produce documents that are sideways or upside-down, and a PDF carries its own idea of which way each page should face.

What it does

  • Turns one page, or every page, in 90° steps
  • Sets the page's rotation flag rather than redrawing it, so the file neither grows nor softens
  • Keeps text selectable, because nothing is rasterised

What it does not do

  • Change the content or the quality in any way
  • Straighten a page that was scanned at a slight angle; that is deskewing, which is a different job
  • Handle several files at once yet; it is one PDF at a time

Our sister site QRSansar hosts a document and gives you a short link and a QR code for it. That is handy for WhatsApp, a slide, a poster or a printed handout, and it avoids attachment size limits entirely. You can swap the file later and the link and QR code keep working.

Worth being clear about the difference: that is a hosting service, so your file is uploaded to it. Everything on PDFsansar stays on your device; sharing is the one job that cannot.

Rotate PDF: common questions

Can I rotate one page without rotating the rest?

Yes. Turn a single page, several pages, or the whole document. Pages that are already upright can be left alone.

Will rotating blur the page or make the file bigger?

No. Rotating writes a rotation value into the page rather than taking a picture of it, so text stays text, images keep their resolution, and the file size barely moves. Tools that rasterise a page to rotate it are the reason this question gets asked.

Will the rotation stick when I email the file?

Yes. The new orientation is saved into the PDF itself, so it opens the right way up wherever it is opened.
